On October 15th, the 2021 China Automotive Supply Chain Conference kicked off in Chongqing. At the meeting, Wu Feng, Director of the Automotive Management Department of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will fully leverage the role of the joint ministerial conference mechanism for energy conservation and new energy vehicle industries, coordinate and study a series of policy measures, maintain the continuity and stability of supporting policies in various links, and effectively connect them. Enhance the ability to safeguard key resources and jointly maintain the security and stability of the industrial and supply chains.

Since the beginning of this year, China's automobile industry has maintained a good development momentum and overall stable development. From January to September, the production and sales of automobiles exceeded 18.62 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. The total export of vehicles was 1.36 million, a year-on-year increase of 120%. However, the evolution of the epidemic and the shortage of chips have put certain pressure on the stable production of enterprises.

In response, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in conjunction with relevant departments, actively takes measures to promote collaborative innovation and development among upstream and downstream enterprises, and fully guarantees the stable operation of the automotive industry. Wu Feng pointed out that on the one hand, the organization has launched a campaign to strengthen and supplement the automotive supply chain. On the other hand, we will concentrate our efforts on solving the problem of chip shortage. In response to the widespread concern about the tight supply of automotive chips in the industry, we will establish a working group for promoting the application of automotive semiconductors, support the establishment of the China Chip Automotive Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance, organize the preparation of supply and demand manuals, strengthen precise supply-demand docking, and promote relevant enterprises to accelerate resumption of work and production to ensure the supply of specific chips.

In terms of announcement management, timely announcement management service measures will be introduced to allow enterprises to handle changes in automotive announcement parameters related to chips first and then make up for them, while ensuring safety. This will promote the substitution of scarce chips and comprehensively enhance the independent supply capacity of automotive chips.
